CÉ LA VI sits on the 57th floor of Marina Bay Sands, and there's no polite way around it: this is the most famous rooftop in Southeast Asia. The views are absurd — a full 360-degree sweep of the Singapore skyline, from the financial district towers to the Gardens by the Bay Supertrees to the ships queued in the Strait of Singapore.
The venue runs two distinct spaces. The SkyBar is the open-air terrace where you come for sunset cocktails and the panorama. The Club Lounge is the indoor club space where resident and guest DJs play until late. They're technically the same venue, but they're two completely different nights out — and understanding the difference is the key to getting CÉ LA VI right.
This is not the Marina Bay Sands infinity pool. That's a separate, hotel-guests-only space on the same rooftop deck. Visitors confuse the two constantly — CÉ LA VI is the bar and club, not the pool.
Location
Address: Marina Bay Sands, Tower 3, 1 Bayfront Avenue, Level 57, Singapore 018971
Getting there:
- MRT: Take the Downtown or Circle Line to Bayfront MRT (CE1/DT16). Follow signs for Tower 3 — the CÉ LA VI lift lobby is on the ground floor. Dedicated express elevator to Level 57.
- Taxi/Grab: Drop-off at Marina Bay Sands Tower 3 entrance. Tell the driver "CÉ LA VI" or "Tower 3 lobby" — the complex is large and you'll end up at the wrong tower otherwise.
- Walking: 10 minutes from the Merlion via the Helix Bridge. A great approach at night when the bridge is lit.
Nearest MRT: Bayfront (CE1/DT16) — direct underground connection to Marina Bay Sands.
What to Expect
SkyBar
The SkyBar is the outdoor terrace — open-air, no cover charge most nights, and the reason most people visit. It wraps around the rooftop with unobstructed views in every direction.
- Hours: Opens around 12 PM daily. Busiest from 6 PM to 10 PM.
- Vibe: Relaxed and social during the day. Cocktail-bar energy in the evening — conversation-level music, well-dressed crowd, phones out for the view. Not a party.
- Cocktails: S$25–S$35. Signature cocktails lean tropical and photogenic — expect butterfly pea, yuzu, lychee, and shiso. Solid but you're paying for the altitude.
- Wine & champagne: By-the-glass from S$18. Champagne bottles from S$150+.
- Beer: S$16–S$20.
- Food: Restaurant-quality Asian-European fusion. Not bar snacks — proper dishes. Dinner reservations available for the seated restaurant section.
- No cover charge for the SkyBar on most nights.
Club Lounge
The Club Lounge is the indoor space that transforms into a proper club on weekend nights. Lower ceilings than you'd expect at 57 floors up, but the energy is high and the DJ programming is strong.
- Hours: Thursday to Saturday nights, typically 10 PM – late (3–4 AM).
- Music: Hip hop, house, EDM — varies by night and guest DJ. Resident DJs anchor the midweek, while weekends bring international names and celebrity guest sets. Live performances on select Saturdays.
- Cover charge: S$30–S$40 on Friday and Saturday nights, sometimes including one drink. Thursday and special events vary. Check the door or their social media for the week's lineup.
- Table service: Available and pushed hard. Minimum spends from S$500+ for a standard table, more for premium positions.
- Crowd: International mix — heavy tourist presence, expat groups, and local regulars who know the DJs. Skews late 20s to 30s. Not a university crowd.
Dress Code
Smart casual, strictly enforced — especially for the Club Lounge.
- Men: Collared shirts or clean-cut T-shirts. Long trousers or tailored shorts. Closed-toe shoes.
- Women: More flexibility, but keep it polished. Heels or smart sandals.
- Not allowed: Flip-flops, athletic shorts, singlets/tank tops, sportswear, ripped jeans. They will turn you away — this is Marina Bay Sands, not Clarke Quay.
The SkyBar is slightly more relaxed during daytime hours, but evening dress standards apply from around 6 PM across both spaces.
Best Time to Visit
Sunset at the SkyBar (6:30 PM – 8:30 PM) is the signature CÉ LA VI experience. Singapore sunsets hit around 7:00–7:15 PM year-round. Arrive by 6:30 to get a spot along the railing. The sky shifts from gold to deep blue, the city lights switch on, and for about 45 minutes the view justifies every dollar you spend on overpriced cocktails. This is the postcard moment.
Friday or Saturday night (11 PM – 1 AM) for the Club Lounge at peak energy. The international DJs usually hit their main set around midnight. Arrive earlier (10 PM) to avoid the longest queues.
Sunday afternoon for a more relaxed rooftop session. The SkyBar crowd is thinner, the brunch menu is available, and the vibe is closer to a sophisticated day-drink than a party.
Weekday evenings (Tuesday–Thursday) are the insider move. Smaller crowds, no cover at the Club Lounge on most weekdays, and the views are identical. You'll actually be able to lean on the railing without elbowing someone.
How It Compares
| CÉ LA VI (MBS) | 1-Altitude (Sentosa) | Marquee Singapore | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Height | 57th floor | Rooftop (lower) | Ground level |
| Views | City skyline, 360° | Sea + skyline | Indoor, no views |
| Pool | No (hotel guests only) | Yes, bookable | No |
| Club | Yes — Club Lounge | No — bar/lounge only | Yes — megaclub |
| Music | Hip hop, house, EDM | Chill house, lounge | EDM, big-room |
| Cover | S$30–S$40 weekends | None typically | S$30–S$50 |
| Getting there | Bayfront MRT (direct) | Sentosa Express (15 min) | Bayfront MRT (direct) |
| Vibe | Glamorous, touristy | Relaxed, Mediterranean | High-energy, spectacle |
CÉ LA VI wins on views and convenience. Marquee is the better pure nightclub. 1-Altitude is the better daytime pool experience.
Practical Tips
- The infinity pool is NOT part of CÉ LA VI. The famous Marina Bay Sands rooftop pool is restricted to hotel guests. CÉ LA VI shares the 57th floor but has no pool access. If a pool is what you want, look at 1-Altitude on Sentosa instead.
- Reservations strongly recommended for the Club Lounge on weekends. Walk-ins face unpredictable queues, especially after 11 PM. Book via their website or concierge.
- SkyBar doesn't take reservations for the bar area — it's first-come. The adjacent restaurant does take dinner bookings.
- Sunset timing: Singapore is near the equator, so sunset barely shifts — always around 7:00–7:15 PM. No need to check the forecast for timing, just show up by 6:30.
- Photography: The railing along the SkyBar terrace is the shot. Best angle faces the financial district. After dark, the Gardens by the Bay Supertrees light up and add another layer.
- Getting home: Bayfront MRT runs until midnight. After that, Grab is your best option — expect surge pricing from MBS on weekend nights.
- Budget move: Skip the Club Lounge cover by visiting on a weekday evening. You get the same SkyBar views for the price of one cocktail.
